The campaign couples recent footage from operations in Mozambique with greater background into the carbon finance agreement made between the Bank and CleanStar.

CleanStar to keynote at Global BoP Network Summit in Brazil

September 2013

 

CleanStar will deliver the keynote address at the BoP Global Network Summit at Natura's corporate headquarters in Sao Paulo, Brazil on 7 November, 2013.  The summit is being convened by Cornell Professor Emeritus Stuart Hart and will bring together BoP business incubators, investors and corporations from around the world.

CleanStar Helps Launch ICRAF-IFAD Sustainable Biofuel Program

June 2013

 

CleanStar was invited by the World Agroforesty Centre to share its experience with private sector investment in smallholder-based food and bioenergy production. 

 

This new program is supported by the European Union and IFAD (the International Fund for Agriculture Development) and seeks to analyze, document and scale up pro-poor bioenergy production systems around the world.

Soros and IFU Invest $9m in Urban Cooking Venture in Mozambique
September 2012

The Soros Economic Development Fund and the Industrialization Fund for Developing Countries  announced today investments of nearly $9 million in CleanStar Mozambique, with the option to invest more in potential pan-African expansion.

 

“CleanStar Mozambique has found a commercial and scalable way to alleviate poverty in Africa,” said Stewart Paperin, president of the Soros Economic Development Fund. “This venture creates jobs, increases food security, and has sustainable environmental benefits. We’d like to see the charcoal replacement business operate successfully in dozens of countries throughout the continent.”

 

“Our team has seen this venture move from concept into implementation in record time,” said Finn Jonck, IFU’s Managing Director. “We are delighted to now come on board.”

CleanStar receives "Bioenergy Finance Deal of the Year" award

Environmental Finance magazine today awarded CleanStar Mozambique the "Bioenergy Finance Deal of the Year" award for its innovative financing agreement with Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

CleanStar Mozambique received the “Screw Business As Usual Award” from Sir Richard for its breakthrough innovations in sustainable energy delivery. CleanStar was nominated for the award by the UN Foundation.
